The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG that explores the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.

Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in New York City, plunging the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, transforming the city into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a broader audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Players leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Wound System

The way health is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
