The DCU Series Second Season Finale to Resolve Significant Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Announces

While audience feedback for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely positive, with fans and critics applauding the acting and plot—despite the fact that the big twist in episode 7 didn't come as a surprise—a particular criticism has only grown stronger throughout the season: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths in season 2, and it's true, the episodes have been progressively briefer. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the recap, title sequence, and end credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is nearly an hour in length.

Series creator and DC Universe head Gunn wrote via social media, responding to a viewer's concern.

Despite this news, it remains unclear what portion of the 57 minutes will be brand-new content, free from opening and ending sequences, or recaps of previous events. That said, even if the episode contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

The director earlier hinted that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the broader DC Universe at large will be heading and serve as a prequel of sorts for the next Superman movie. Given the cameo of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the series.

Peacemaker's finale, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if fans' suspicions are confirmed.
