Spurs Manager Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Spurs fans who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of goals in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

But the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper gave away possession well outside his area.

He came out to deal with a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball went to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed following, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with one another moving ahead."

Tete had handed the visitors a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Hart stated that the second score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a great squad member, he is a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian national team the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a error of mine, I take responsibility for that," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn results. Today is a poor defeat and it is tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to target.

10 moments passed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," he said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them defended the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little extra opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I felt a positive feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager

Although the keeper's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to play before the close of the year.

Only one of those wins have come since Frank replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," stated Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything seems to work against you as well – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have lost 4 consecutive home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their lowest averages on file in a single season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
