Shocking Footage Shows Point Police Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman that leaped to the aid of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the constable stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage released by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a open target, bringing the fight to an finish.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell received two open wounds to his neck and additional injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel arrived.
The latest award follows after the law enforcement team won internal Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area officer association in early 2024.
They were also awarded a Area Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The responses of all three officers eventually saved one another and resulted in no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per officials.
