Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they start the process of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
