Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five touchdowns in the present year
New England tied their best victory streak since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had scored first at Foxborough with QB Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the Jets' first possession
But the New England responded in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the endzone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the win
