Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
