Manchester United Head Coach Ruben Amorim Admits He Can't Avoid Disappointing Performance
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim experiences the stress during their three-one defeat at opponents
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledges he cannot hide from his disappointing performance and states it is understandable that club former stars are commenting on him.
Recently, the club's record scorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his program that "the soul has vanished" from his old club.
The Portuguese manager has secured just 18 victories from his 49 matches in control, featuring nine out of 33 in the English top flight, where he has yet to achieve back-to-back successive wins.
Although senior Old Trafford sources are certain that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still behind Amorim, an inability to defeat newly promoted their next opponents on the weekend will trigger fresh speculation about his future heading into the upcoming two-week international break.
"This is understandable," stated the Portugal-born manager, when asked about Rooney's observations. "You cannot hide from the results."
"Then you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me is in the past."
Supporter Response and Current Circumstances
Manchester United's supporters stayed supportive of their manager following last season's disappointing performance, when they finished 15th in the table - their worst showing since the 1973/74 demotion campaign - and were defeated in the European showpiece, in the expectation that the current campaign would be substantially improved.
Amorim assured supporters the circumstances would get better because he had additional opportunity to train with his team without the weekly distraction of continental football.
Unfortunately is not been how the first six games have unfolded as Manchester United have suffered 3 defeats so far and find themselves 14th in the league.
Coach's Response to Questions
When questioned what promises he could provide supporters that the position will get better, Amorim added: "It's not the moment to talk, it is the time to demonstrate."
"Personally analyze the games in the current campaign and, for me, they are completely distinct, but I have nothing to say at this moment."
