India's first-ever World Cup triumph will probably propel them into a dominant force in women's cricket, according to ex- England spinner Alex Hartley.

Team India's squad overcame South Africa by a margin of 52 runs in a significant match at DY Patil Stadium, that's expected to represent a watershed moment in the development of women's cricket throughout India.

The match finished in the early hours local time but the capacity 45,000 spectators stayed until the very end, cheering every run and exploding into joy when championship star player Deepti Sharma claimed the decisive wicket.

"India might transform into a dominant force of female cricket, it's remarkable where they could get to," Hartley stated.

"Major resources set to be poured into the sport, the domestic system, increasing numbers of people will aspire to mirror the success of Jemimah, Kaur, Mandhana and Deepti Sharma."

"There'll be more and more teenage girls and male youth beginning to play with sports gear to participate in cricket because of the achievements India have just achieved."

Even though the loss was disappointing for South Africa, marking their third global final loss, the urban area became a sea of blue as males, boys, ladies and young females wearing shirts bearing the monikers of Kaur and Mandhana streamed out of the arena in large numbers.

Alex Hartley's prediction and optimism in the Indian team's future development was supported by India's players personally, who understood the magnitude of their triumph and potential outcomes.

"This represents a great deal, our team has made history," commented twenty-five-year-old all-rounder Amanjot Kaur.

"However this represents only the commencement. We intend to excel across the globe in all forms and I'm happy we were able to succeed when the stakes were highest."

Although the young all-rounder represents a group of promising, emerging talent, for Harmanpreet, Deepti and Smriti Mandhana - the three players who competed in India's previous ODI World Cup championship match, the heartbreaking nine run loss against the English team at Lord's in 2017 - this represented a peak accomplishment.

Mandhana has been the championship's icon, her likeness featured across advertising boards and broadcast advertisements throughout, while Deepti has been their most consistent player with Kaur as their exceptional captain.

This constitutes her 5th and ultimate international tournament and for a competitor normally so intense on the pitch, she allowed emotion to take over with emotional display, grins and victory dances as she was surrounded by her fellow players for the much-anticipated victory ceremony.

"On each occasion, after every World Cup that we competed in, our discussions focused on the necessary steps to accomplish," explained Harmanpreet, thirty-six.

"The expectations placed on the squad were that the nation needed outstanding achievement, and the BCCI significantly contributed in our development, and which is why we find ourselves in this position."
