Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
