Forest in Late-Stage Talks to Appoint Sean Dyche as Head Coach

Nottingham Forest have entered serious talks to appoint Sean Dyche as their manager.
Dyche is the main contender to become the next Forest head coach, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, and the Premier League club hope to conclude a agreement on Monday.
Postecoglou was fired 17 minutes after Forest's loss by Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
Forest sit 18th in the table after only a single victory in 8 league games, during what has been a season of upheaval.
Dyche has had positive negotiations over the past day, and insiders familiar with the appointment have indicated his chances of getting the job have increased significantly over the weekend.
Alternative Options Considered
Roberto Mancini has also held discussions with Forest executives, while Fulham boss Marco Silva is admired but tied down.
There is also a large buyout clause in Silva's contract that has come to light as a consideration, given Forest have already spent on firing Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo this term.
Whether Silva would be willing to leave Fulham mid-season is also understood to be an obstacle.
Insiders are suggesting that Dyche is presently the standalone candidate, given the difficulties in appointing Silva, while the initial interest in Mancini is thought to have diminished.
Forest's Coaching Carousel
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis dismissed Nuno just three matches into the season and replaced him with Postecoglou.
The Australian failed to win a match and his dismissal - 39 days after his hiring on 9 September - resulted in his stint at Forest is the briefest permanent coaching spell in Premier League annals.
Dyche had a spell with Forest as a junior in the late '80s while Brian Clough was manager, but never earn a senior appearance.
He has not had a coaching job since being let go by Everton in January after just under two years in command of the Toffees.
Dyche secured 21, lost 31 and drew 23 of his 75 Premier League matches as Everton manager, guiding the team to mid-table positions.
Prior to that, Dyche served almost a ten years as Burnley manager between October 2012 and April 2022, on two occasions winning elevation to the Premier League and enabling the Lancashire club qualify for Europe for the first time since 1967.
He also had a stint in charge of Watford for the 2011-12 season, only to lose his position following a change of ownership.
Kettering-born Dyche spent his whole professional career as a defender outside of the top flight, making more than 500 appearances for clubs including Chesterfield, Bristol City, Millwall, Watford and Northampton.
