Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their first championship series after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for this squad, the city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for twenty-three October home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on this Friday.
