Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a medical condition that has affected her in recent days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but chose to travel back to regain her health prior to beginning next year's training.

These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
