It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
